Do you have to be able to sight-read music to be a singing member?

Singing members do have to have a basic skill at reading music to join the South Coast Chorale. While a singer does not have to be able to "see it and sing it" acappella immediately, they must be able to understand basic notation (a quarter note, a rest, dynamic markings, etc.) and be able to approximate pitch relative to the note on the page - if the note goes up, so does the pitch.
